“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1)

Manosphere ideology is diametrically-opposed to the Word of God and the will of God as it pertains to the subjects of:

*human value

*the identity of women and men

*the complimentary design of women and men

*the interdependent nature of women and men

*the Divine purpose of women and men

*God’s will for harmonious interpersonal relationships between women and men

*Marriage and divorce

*Stable family formation

*Sexual morality and ethics

*the origin of human life

*deception, manipulation, exploitation, and oppression (abuse)

*The treatment of women

*The treatment of children

*human liberty and freedom

*Biblical equality between women and men

Manosphere ideology seeks to undermine the teaching of God’s word, while leading both men and women astray and subverting healthy relationships between women and men.

It is one of many spiritual assaults being leveled against the human race, weakening the fabric of human civilization by exacerbating preexisting division and hostility between women and men, and contributing to a collapse of marriage in the West.

Christian leaders, Christian apologists, relationship counselors and marriage therapists, dating coaches, anti-abuse advocates, child advocates, concerned parents, family court professionals, law enforcement officials, and anyone with a vested interest in the sanctity of marriage and stable family formation, the development of healthy mature men, and the safety of women and children—should be paying attention to the Manosphere and equipping themselves to counter its destructive ideology and false narratives.

Waving off the Manosphere as a “fringe movement” of angry men undeserving of being taken seriously will be one of Western civilization’s greatest mistakes, and to the detriment of the American church and the Black American collective.

Ignoring destructive toxic movements that promote supremacist ideologies and dehumanize entire groups of people (in this case, women and girls), is an ineffective and dangerous attitude. Ignoring the Manosphere will not render it irrelevant, neutralize its damaging influence, or make it go away.

Flippantly waving off the influence of the Manosphere can be dangerous for several reasons:

Normalization of Harmful Ideologies: Dismissing the influence of the Manosphere can lead to the normalization of its extreme and misogynistic views. When these ideas are not challenged, they can become more mainstream and accepted, contributing to a culture that tolerates or endorses discrimination and violence against women.

Radicalization: The Manosphere can serve as a gateway to more extreme and radical ideologies. By not taking its influence seriously, we risk ignoring the pathways that lead individuals from relatively moderate views to more dangerous and extremist beliefs. This radicalization can, and does, result in real-world violence and increased societal tensions.

Impact on Mental Health: The Manosphere often promotes unhealthy and toxic views of masculinity that can negatively affect the mental health of its followers. By dismissing its influence, we overlook the potential harm it can cause to individuals who adopt these harmful beliefs, leading to increased rates of depression, anxiety, suicidal feelings and thoughts, and other mental health issues among men and women.

Perpetuation of Sex Inequality: The Manosphere often reinforces male supremacist, patriarchal, regressive gender roles, which can hinder progress towards sex equality. Ignoring its impact can slow down or reverse the advances made in promoting equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

Influence on Young Minds: Young men, in particular, are susceptible to the messages propagated by the Manosphere. If society dismisses the influence of these communities, we risk allowing a new generation to grow up with skewed perceptions of interpersonal relationships between women and men, masculinity and femininity, human value and identity, sexual morality and ethics, consent, and respect, perpetuating a cycle of misogyny and inequality.

Undermining Constructive Dialogue: By waving off the Manosphere’s influence, we miss opportunities to engage in constructive dialogue and address the legitimate concerns that some men may have. This can lead to further alienation and resentment, driving individuals deeper into Manosphere extremism and radicalization.

Real-World Consequences: The ideologies promoted by the Manosphere can lead to tangible negative outcomes, including harassment of women and girls, dating violence, intimate partner violence, spousal abuse, divorce, and even mass violence. Dismissing its influence ignores these potential real-world consequences and fails to address the root causes of such behaviors.

Ignoring toxic movements in general is an ineffective method of dealing with them because it allows harmful ideologies to spread unchecked and gain influence. By not addressing these movements head-on, we miss the opportunity to counteract misinformation, challenge dangerous narratives, and provide alternative perspectives based on sound teaching and empirical data.

Ignorance can create a vacuum that Manosphere ideology is ready to fill, leading to increased radicalization and normalization of harmful behaviors. Active engagement, education, and open dialogue are essential to expose the flaws in the Manosphere and to promote a healthier, more inclusive discourse that upholds the values of respect, equality, and truth.

Taking the influence of the Manosphere seriously is essential for promoting a healthier, more equitable society and respectful relationships between women and men. By acknowledging and addressing its impact, we can work towards mitigating its harmful effects and fostering a more inclusive and respectful dialogue around gender dynamics, biological sex, and relationships.
